Garver’s multidisciplined team designed the new Blood Processing Center at Fort Leonard Wood to meet the client’s need for an expanded blood donation and processing facility. The new Center is a regional blood donor processing center that works with the Armed Services Blood Program to provide vital blood products for service members, veterans, and their families in both peace and war. The design focused on sustainable and maintainable building systems with built-in redundancies for the critical nature of the building’s function. The high-performance design achieved an energy savings of more than 35% over the baseline energy code, reducing the long-term environmental impact and operational cost of the building.
