Designing for Training Efficiency
Garver is designing a standard multi-purpose machine gun (MPMG) range with an associated range operation control area at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. Because the MPMG range will be situated over an existing 1940s-era mortar trench range, special attention had to be paid to site location to complete Department of Defense requirements. In determining optimal placement, Garver considered all other range operations, environmental issues, existing roadways and bridges, line of sight (LOS) analysis, surface danger zones (SDZ), and budgetary constraints in designing a sustainable facility for key training regimens.
