Ardmore Comprehensive Master Drainage Plan

City-Wide Drainage Infrastructure and Floodplain Study

The City of Ardmore, Oklahoma was settled over 100 years ago and drainage infrastructure throughout the town is significantly undersized. The citizens have experienced significant flooding due to local rainfall events that are not well represented by riverine floodplain maps. Garver prepared a Comprehensive Master Drainage Plan to examine the City’s existing drainage systems, identify drainage issues, and propose projects to address the identified deficiencies.

Phase 1 identified current drainage problems through an initial drainage screening and citizen input website. A city-wide rain-on-mesh hydraulic model was developed to visualize current and future drainage problems. Phase 2 included detailed hydraulic analysis to propose solutions and develop feasible projects. Proposed projects were designed comprehensively, with increased infrastructure as well as regional detention considerations. Each recommended project was evaluated based on the priority and estimated cost to develop a Capital Improvements Plan (CIP) for the City of Ardmore to reference when developing annual budgets, G.O. bond programs, and grant opportunities.
