Grapevine WWTP Dewatering

Evaluating technologies for proper sizing

The City of Grapevine Texas’ existing belt filter press had reached the end of its useful life, and growth projections and mass balance calculations predicted that a single belt filter press would not be able to handle future solids loading. Garver evaluated different dewatering technologies and provided design and construction services to determine proper sizing for the dewatering screw presses at the Grapevine Wastewater Treatment Plant. Through the use of data, including historical influent flows, process flow diagram, screw press pilot report, polymer data, and more the team completed a mass balance for the WWTPs solids generation. Garver’s dewatering improvements retrofitted two screw presses within the existing dewatering facilities to allow for redundancy and increased solids for future loadings. The improvements maximized the use of the existing footprint while maintaining adequate room for operation and maintenance activities.
