Dakota Zimmerman named to ENR Texas & Louisiana’s Top Young Professionals
Construction Services Texas Director of Operations Dakota Zimmerman, PE, is among 20 rising industry stars named to ENR's Texas & Louisiana Top Young Professionals class of 2024. The list recognizes current and future leaders who are expanding opportunities and bettering their communities.
Zimmerman, based in Garver’s Frisco, Texas office, has provided construction engineering and inspection services on infrastructure projects for communities across the United States, working alongside Departments of Transportation, airports, municipalities, water and wastewater utilities, and more. He has acted as the project manager for over $1 billion of construction work. In his six years at Garver, Zimmerman, 33, has quickly risen in the ranks to lead Garver’s Construction Services efforts in Texas, partnering with the Texas Department of Transportation on projects totaling over $100 million in construction costs.
“I’m honored and humbled to be named one of ENR’s Top Young Professionals,” said Zimmerman. “But this recognition isn’t just a reflection of my individual efforts. It's a testament to the support Garver has given me to build a strong team here in Texas that’s able to take on any infrastructure challenge.”
Another testament to Zimmerman’s impact on his firm and the industry is being named a Spirit of Garver winner. The peer-nominated Spirit of Garver award is a coveted recognition within the 1,200-employee firm and is given to those who have exemplified a rare commitment to their work as engineering professionals, to the betterment of the industry, and to the communities they serve.
“Dakota is a well-respected leader within the industry and has the accolades to show for it,” said Garver’s Director of Construction Services Earl Mott, PE. “From his work with TXDOT to his many projects with municipalities and utilities across the state, Dakota’s career has already made a positive impact on our nation’s infrastructure.”
Zimmerman has also been involved in a wide range of professional organizations, including the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), the Wichita Area Builder’s Association, the Kansas Society of Professional Engineers (KSPE), the Water Environment Association of Texas, and the Wichita Society of Professional Engineers (WSPE). Before moving to Texas, he served as the secretary, treasurer, and vice president of WSPE and was named Outstanding Intern Engineer of the Year by both WSPE and KSPE. Additionally, Zimmerman is a current member of the ACEC Texas Leadership Academy, a collection of more than 30 professionals developing leadership skills alongside prominent industry leaders. Zimmerman exhibits the same impressive commitment to his community — through direct volunteerism and through Garver’s corporate giving program, GarverGives.
