Garver Wellness celebrates National Employee Wellness Month with even more ways to get and stay healthy

With June marking National Employee Wellness Month, Garver is reflecting on how Garver Wellness, the company’s award-winning wellness program, has been a force for change since its beginnings more than a dozen years ago.

When Wellness Program Manager Whitney Gorsegner joined the Garver family in 2017, she explained the goal of Wellness in this way: “I firmly believe that lives can be changed simply by showing people of any age how fun being healthy can be. I’m positive that we’ll continue to create an environment in which our employees continue to discover the benefits of healthy lifestyles.”

The program has evolved into a multi-tiered companywide initiative, yet its fundamental premise of employee wellness has remained the same. By focusing on five major concepts of wellness – financial, mental, occupational, physical, and social – the Wellness program offers a holistic approach for its more than 1,000 employees, with an in-house managed, health outcomes-based program focusing on health promotion, disease management, and overall wellness.

Everyone’s journey is unique, which is why our Wellness Team interacts directly with employees to craft a tailored wellness plan for every individual. To help them meet their goals, we offer things like in-house health screenings, in-office fitness centers, an annual fun run, educational materials and podcasts, health and gym reimbursements, behavior-modification coaching programs, financial wellness services, mental health support, and more.

Wellness continues to expand its resources to meet the needs of its employees. For example, just this year — after evaluating industry trends — Garver added stipends toward reimbursement of health monitoring devices (like Fitbits and Apple Watches), mental wellbeing apps, and healthy food delivery. Over the past 12 months, the company has also increased its Health Savings Account employer contributions. In addition, Garver provides company-paid health advocacy resources through Alight.

The company believes employees and their families deserve a comprehensive and competitive benefits package so that they can thrive personally and professionally. The Garver Wellness Program is a big part of that, incentivizing health services at no cost to employees, and empowering them with the knowledge needed to improve their overall health.
