Apron A Reconstruction
At one time serving mostly training and general aviation travel, Meacham International Airport in Fort Worth, Texas, has become one of the area’s most active business aviation airports. That transformation has been sparked by improvements made over the last decade, including a Garver-led apron reconstruction. Garver designed the reconstruction of approximately 20,000 square yards of pavement for Apron A, replacing thin asphalt with durable concrete. In addition, the project required continued drainage and utility service during construction, which caused Garver to contract with subsurface engineers to locate water, gas, electrical, and storm utilities under existing pavement and, in a separate phase, relocate utilities.
Apron A is vital to the airport’s economy and serves over 100,000 square feet of corporate hangar space. This work had to be done with as little impact as possible to daily airport operations.Colin Bible Garver Aviation Team Leader
