DEN Taxiway EE Improvements

Increasing safety and efficiency

Garver was selected to provide design support and construction phase services for the Taxiway EE project at Denver International Airport. Garver completed quality control and constructability reviews during the expedited design process and provided full-service construction management services including construction administration, project controls, materials testing, inspection, and close out services.

Taxiway EE, the Federal Aviation Administration’s largest safety project in the nation, aimed to address an FAA Hot Spot and improve the capacity of DEN’s east airfield. Taxiway EE provides aircraft with unrestricted access to Runway 17L, helping to mitigate the risk of collisions, reduces delays in departing flights, and improve operational efficiency for DEN and its stakeholders.

The project consisted of the construction of approximately 6,000 LF of new taxiway connecting the parallel north/south taxiways, Taxiway L and Taxiway M, to the east west taxiway, Taxiway ED. The project was completed in four phases, three of which required construction within existing TOFAs. Major scopes of work included excavation and embankment, FAA and franchise electrical utility relocations, construction of concrete and asphalt pavement and underlining base layers, new drainage infrastructure, and LED lighting and signage installation.
