Ontario International Airport Safety Management System

The Airport Authority that manages Ontario International Airport (ONT) has a unique organizational structure that required additional considerations for development and implementation. With more than 65 years of combined experience designing and implementing SMS systems at airports across the country, the Garver team was uniquely qualified to assist with a comprehensive SMS program that would meet and exceed FAA and other program requirements. Garver led the development and implementation of a Safety Management System Program and Manual in accordance with draft FAA regulations, selected ICAO standards, and industry best practices, and adapted it to the structural organization of the Authority. The creation of this SMS involved a visioning session, a review of existing safety practices and policies, a gap analysis, and an evaluation of existing technology platforms to identify safety gaps and develop an implementation plan and manual for safety and risk management guidance.
