Ontario International Airport Safety Management System

Garver led the development of a comprehensive SMS program for the Ontario International Airport (ONT) located in Ontario, California. ONT’s comprehensive SMS program is focused on meeting FAA standards for applying SMS in the movement and non-movement areas but also expanding the use of SMS policies and procedures campus-wide including the passenger terminal buildings and landside facilities. The creation of this SMS involved a visioning session, a review of existing safety practices and policies, a gap analysis, meetings with multiple stakeholders, and an evaluation of existing technology platforms to support SMS implementation. Garver developed the airport’s SMS implementation plan, SMS manual, and multiple supporting documents and training materials.
