Realignment of SH-20 in Claremore, OK
Garver helps ODOT relieve traffic congestion in growing Claremore
A major route in Northeast Oklahoma, State Highway 20 (SH-20) carries more than 12,000 vehicles a day, many of them tractor trailers. Cutting through the heart of downtown Claremore, a steadily growing city with increasing traffic counts, SH-20 crosses over multiple at-grade railroad intersections along a heavily used line. Lack of a railroad overpass has caused traffic backups and occasional delays of emergency services for years. Construction of the SH-20 realignment will provide that much needed overpass, relieve traffic congestion, and increase safety.
In partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), Garver is providing construction engineering and inspection and resident engineering services for this important transportation construction project, which includes over seven miles of new concrete highway alignment and the construction of a multi-span precast concrete beam bridge that will cross over the existing railroad and connect to SH-66, a main thoroughfare for the region. Garver’s work will also include the construction of open and closed drainage systems, a five-lane facility, two bridge class reinforced concrete box structures, and over 600,000 cubic yards of earth work.
