TxDOT Austin District ADA Ramps
Providing ADA-compliance and connecting bicycle and pedestrian corridors
Garver’s evaluation of existing pedestrian facilities in the TxDOT Austin District spanned 20 miles, 23 corridors, and 10 cities. It included a comprehensive assessment of existing conditions for longitudinal and cross slopes, ramp types, sidewalk extents, deteriorated or missing sidewalk areas, drainage, right of way constraints, crosswalks, pedestrian signal heads, and push buttons, along with proposed ADA-based solutions. To help TxDOT prioritize locations and improvement needs, Garver compiled data from the assessment into an interactive GIS database that allowed TxDOT to review the location, cost, and needs of over 500 locations within the district.
