Gilcrease Expressway

Completing the Loop

A completed Gilcrease Expressway has been at the top of the local wish list in Tulsa, Oklahoma for a half century. With Garver’s assistance, the regional mobility and opportunity for economic development the project can deliver is finally becoming realized.

Garver is providing design services for the City of Tulsa and the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) for a segment of toll road that connects I-44 in southwest Tulsa with U.S. 412 in west Tulsa, including new quarter-mile bridges over the Arkansas River and Berryhill Creek. The four-lane roadway completes a five-mile portion of the expressway’s loop, which has gone through multiple planning and design phases for decades.

The $300 million project includes collaboration between the City of Tulsa, Tulsa County, Indian Nations Council of Government, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), and the OTA. An expedited design schedule allows 12 months to complete plans for letting, an estimated three-year construction schedule could begin in 2018, and by 2045, it could carry 34,400 daily vehicles daily.

In addition to bridge and interchange design, Garver is providing environmental services, traffic projections and analysis, drainage, and roadway.
