Searcy Water Treatment Plant

Water treatment plant expands, ready for future growth

The City of Searcy, Arkansas upgraded its intake, treatment, and distribution systems to increase its water treatment plant by 30 percent, and worked with Garver for guidance through regulatory requirements and grant funding stipulations. The project involved adding two variable frequency drive-driven pumps at the plant intake structure, replacing drives on four flocculator units, constructing two flocculation/settling basins, and remodeling a filter building to take two small filters out of service. The expansion to 19.2 million gallons per day (MGD) touched nearly every aspect of the plant, which provides water for the City and an opportunity for Searcy Water Utilities to sell wholesale water to surrounding utilities and rural customers.
