53rd Terrace Bridge Replacement

Replacing an overpass

Built in 1969, the NE 53rd Terrace Bridge over I-435 in Kansas City had reached its projected service life and needed to be replaced. Garver provided professional services for conceptual and preliminary plans, right of way plans, and final design plans for the project. Project highlights included raised roadway profiles at the intersection of 53rd Terrace and Randolph Road, safety improvements, like the addition of four-foot shoulders to Randolph Road and MGS guardrail installed along 53rd Terrace, Randolph Road, and I-435; and aesthetic details, including concrete form liners on barriers, mechanically stabilized earth wall panels, and ornamental fencing.
